Tuesday (5th November) rest day in Namche (which is anything but a rest day). The goal today is to climb a bit higher and acclimatize before pushing on to higher altitudes. Rich, Andrew, Dave and Bob were the only ones to make the trek today. The others either stayed back to rest or take care of some common cold issues. First we made our way up to the army outpost which is where we got a spectacular look at Thamserku, Ama Dhablam, Lhotse, and of course Everest. The sky was deep blue and there were no clouds today so we were able to take some amazing pictures. From there the group made the trek up the hill behind Namche through Syangboche to the Everest View Hotel. From there we had the most amazing, mind blowing view of the Khumbu Mountains . The wind was blowing the snow off of the top of Everest which looked like a long white streamer vanishing into the thin air and Lhotse the peak next to Everest doing the same thing. Words cannot describe the view, the enormity, and beauty of some of the tallest snow covered peaks in the world with a deep blue sky as a back drop. Rich, Dave Andrew and I, sat for a while and had some tea while staring at the majestic peaks of the Himalayas. We are back in Namche now resting up for our push to Thame tomorrow. Shout out to the 4th Grade at the Howard School in West Bridgewater MA and the 5th Grade at Governor John Carver School in Carver MA for following our trek. Be home soon!
